WWI American Red Cross First Aid Service Medal / BB&B

The medal planchet is 1 1/2 inches in diameter. The obverse bears the designation of "American Red Cross and "Humanity" and features an image of a kneeling crusader rendering aid. The engraver's initials of "GB" and the date of "1911" are below the image. The reverse has an image of a woman rendering aid and the designation "First Aid". The planchet is suspended from a bar with the designation "Won By" and the finely engraved aname of "W.B. Haislop". The reverse of the suspension bar is marked "Bronze" and "BB&B", indicating manufacture by the Philadelphia jewelry and medals firm of Bailey, Banks & Biddle.
