Very Fine Luftwaffe Flak Artillery EM/NCO Visor Cap
click for an even bigger image

An exceptional example of the Luftwaffe visor cap of an enlisted ranks or NCO of Flak Regiment 29. The cap has a splendid saddle shape with a cap body constructed of ribbed blue gray wool, piped in red. The visor shows some typical age crazing which is extremely light. There is a small scuff to the patent leather chin strap. The interior bears the full celluloid sweat shield of the Berlin manufacturer Carl Halfar, and the sweat shield is dated 1939. The interior leather sweatband shows relatively light wear, while the underside of the sweat band is unit marked to Flak Regiment 29. That unit was formed on 1 October, 1937, in Frankfurt am Main. It served throughout the war in the air defense of the Reich as a part of the 21st Flak Division within Flakgruppe Frankfurt/Main.
