Luftwaffe SSK 90 Armored Flight Crew Helmet
click for an even bigger image

The SSK 90 was developed for use by Luftwaffe combat crews. Introduced on May 8, 1941, it was withdrawn from service only a few weeks later on May 26. The helmet did continue to see use after that date, however. This example is complete, including the "Y" harness chin strap that was copied from the paratrooper helmet for use on the SSK 90. The exterior shows typical signs of use and wear, with relatively minor scuffing, primarily on the leather comb on top of the helmet. Overall the helmet is quite complete and in very good used condition.
