Type 98 Japanese Army Infantry Canteen
Introduced in 1898, this canteen style was carried by soldiers of the Imperial Japanese Army in the Russo-Japanese War, world War I, and in fact it was still being carried by some troops into the period of the Second World War. The olive brown paint on the aluminum body remains approximately 70% intact. The original stopper is present. The canteen is within the original leather harness as carried by soldiers in the infantry, who wore the canteen with the shoulder strap over their left shoulder with the canteen on the right hip. The leather of the harness and shoulder strap is somewhat dry and shows age, but the harness and strap are complete and intact. The adjustment buckles on the harness and the shoulder strap show typical rust but are complete and functional.
