The rubberized canvas hard shell holster for the Type 14 Nambu pistol. The holster is complete with its rubberized canvas shoulder strap. Inside of the cover is a paper label which reads "No. 63955 Warrant Officer Shimazaki", likely the name of the original owner of the pistol and holster. Written on the cover of the holster is "Miyazaki Prefecture, Sendai City, 11th Airborne Division, Second Born". While the meaning of the "Second Born" notation is not entirely clear, the fact is that U.S. 11th Airborne Division was based in the city of Sendai beginning in September of 1945, immediately after the war ended. It seems that an American paratrooper of the division came into possession of the holster and had someone write the 11th Airborne Division notation on the cover. The strap is retained on the rear of the holster by a button. The strap has come unbuttoned but it remains complete and intact.
