WWI Austrian M1916 Combat Helmet Gottlieb u. Brauchbar
click for an even bigger image

A very fine example of an Austrian manufactured Model 1916 combat helmet. The distinctive Austrian brown paint is approximately 90% intact. The three liner pads remain in place, three of the six tongues are torn at the lace holes. The interior is stamped "BGB66", indicating a size 66 shell manufactured by the firm of Bruder Gottlieb u. Brauchbar. The exterior of the helmet is stamped on top with a letter and number combination as often found on Austrian helmets. One half of the leather chin strap remains present, that being the section with the buckle attached.
