Federal Period American Officer Sword Circa 1812
The curved blade is approximately 27 inches long with the sword having an overall length of about 32 inches. The blade is triple fullered with visible etching. The blade is dark gray with light surface rust and it is free of chips or nicks. The grip is carved bone which has typical slight age cracks and one small chip just below the pommel. The bone design incorporates not only a checkered pattern but the classic leaves and clamshell design of the Federal period. The pommel and "D" guard are brass and exhibit uncleaned patina.
