WWI Camouflage Painted Browning M1917 Ammo Box
An American World War I ammunition box that was given a colorful camouflage paint scheme of wavy red and ocher segments over the olive green color of the box. The leather carrying strap on top of the box is present but broken. The dimensions are approximately 12 3/4 inches long by 4 1/2 inches wide by 8 inches tall. There is a split in the center of the wood panel base that runs the length of the box, but the base is intact and complete. The box shows use and wear, primarily to the paint on one side, but generally the colors are fairly vivid, even after the passage of 100 years.
