Civil War Louisiana Belt Plate
Solid cast belt buckle measuring 2" X 3-1/8", with gilt die-struck rolled brass face, applied brass tongue, slightly curved. Worn by the Louisiana militia before and during the Civil War. After the war the motto was changed to "UNION, JUSTICE AND CONFIDENCE". Buckle is lightly toned, reverse with scattered scratches.
