A Model 98/05 saw back butcher blade bayonet, blade is marked by Gottlieb Hammesfahr of Solingen on the ricasso. The blade is relatively bright with a number of gray spots and areas from age, dated 1916 on the spine. The wood grips have the minor indentations from use but are free of chips or cracks. The spine of the grip has the narrow sheet of steel that was put in place as a flash guard in 1915. The pommel and guard show minor spotting. The bayonet is without a scabbard.
