The holster for the .45 caliber service pistol, manufacturer marked "G&K" and dated 1917. The original owner was obviously serving with the Headquarters Company of an artillery unit, as he affixed a collar disk of the unit to the cover flap of the holster. The original owner also apparently didn't have much use for the leather tie-down cord, since he wrapped it tightly around the base of the holster where it remains to this day. The holster shows the expected signs of use and age but the leather is clean and pliable and the holster is in overall very good field used condition.
