Painted Souvenir Japanese Helmet "Iwo Jimo" & "Tarawa"
A World War II Japanese civil defense helmet that was artfully painted as a souvenir for an American soldier. The helmet features a Japanese national flag on the front with the dates of 1941 and 1945. The helmet bears the battle locations of "Iwo Jimo" [sic], "Tarawa" and "Guam", and features scenes of attacking Japanese soldiers, including one with a "samurai sword". The helmet lacks the liner and chin strap.
