Standard Japanese army issue rice cooker in field used condition. The cooker is largely black from the effects of placement in or near a fire for cooking. There is kanji scratched into the lid of the cooker, presumably the name of the soldier who carried the cooker. There is also a manufacturer mark on the tray, along with scratched kanji. A unit about which there can be no doubt that it was used by a Japanese soldier over a lengthy period of time during the war for the preparation of his meals in the field of operations.
