Civil War Cavalry Carbine Sling
This carbine sling is constructed of black bridle leather measuring 2 wide by approximately 55 in length with hardware of a steel swivel and snap-hook device used to attach it to the carbine ring. Also present is a large rectangular brass adjustment buckle and brass sling end tip. The buckle is sewn and riveted. These slings were used extensively throughout the Civil War and well into the post-war period of the Indian wars as well. The leather shows service wear but remains soft and pliable.
