Third Reich Short Police Dress Bayonet by Krebs
The bayonet has a blade length of 7 1/4 inches, and an overall length in the scabbard of 13 1/2 inches. The blade bears to manufacturer mark of the firm of Carl Julius Krebs. The blade has a few minor scratches but overall is quite bright. The horn grip plates are golden brown and are free of chips or cracks. The obverse grip carries an aluminum police eagle. The front side of the guard is adorned with oak leaves. The eagle head pommel is bright, with excellent detail. The leather washer remains in place beneath the guard at the top of the blade. The scabbard is painted steel, an interesting economy measure, since it was unnecessary to produce a separate piece to place on the bottom of the scabbard as a fitted drag. The leather frog is present, although the leather is somewhat dry. The bayonet is in overall excellent condition.
