WWII Japanese Army Officer Shin Gunto Sword
The blade is approximately 26 inches long, with an overall length of approximately 39 inches when within the scabbard. The wooden handle is covered in light colored ray skin and wrapped with dark fabric in the traditional fashion. A figure of an animal is the menuki is beneath the wrap. The sword has a red painted scabbard that shows some wear but on which the original paint is approximately 90% intact. There is a plain blackened brass tsuba which is pierced on each side. The blade is bright steel with a long fuller, and there are no cracks, chips, nicks, or active rust. Overall the blade is quite bright and in very good condition. The tang beneath the handle is unsigned.
