click for an even bigger image

The exterior Luftwaffe blue paint is approximately 60% intact. The Luftwaffe eagle decal is about 70% intact while the national shield decal is about 75% complete. The liner is present in the helmet and the chin strap is complete. The liner has a notation written on it which appears to be the name of the American soldier who took the helmet as a souvenir, together with the date of "May 15, 1945". The interior of the liner appears to have a manufacturer stamp and a size stamp of "56" centimeters.
