WWII Army Air Force Officer Crusher Cap
click for an even bigger image

The cap has a removable top, with the top being constructed from the same chocolate brown ribbed wool material that was used for the four pocket officer's blouse. The cap crown has no internal wire stiffener and the visor is a single piece of thin, pliable leather. The side buttons are secured to the cap band with two prongs on each button, making it a simple and easy task to remove the buttons and change to top of the cap. The internal celluloid lining of the cap has darkened and become somewhat stiff with age, the sweatband stitching loose at the front. The cap has the patent leather chinstrap and backstrap combination that was favored by pilots of the Army Air Force. The cap shows honest use and wear but remains in very good condition with great character.
