The sword has a blade length of approximately 32 inches, with an overall length of 37 1/2 inches. About 1/3 of the blade from the hilt down is decorated with gilt floral designs against a blue panel. The remainder of the blade is bright, with areas of light surface rust. The sword has fluted mother of pearl grips in excellent condition. The guard is a large clamshell style with web design. The pommel has an dog head from which extends the knuckle guard, which itself is decorated on the center of each side with a lion head. The straight brass scabbard has relief decorative floral and circular designs. The scabbard apparently experienced a break about a quarter of a way up from the bottom, and this was repaired during the period with the application of a band of metal around the scabbard.
