Cased WWII Era Slot Brooch Distinguished Flying Cross
The medal is a World War II period decoration with slot brooch suspension. The stitching attaching the brooch to one side of the ribbon has given way, but the opposite side remains firmly attached. The ribbon is crisp and clean. The medal is contained within the plexiglass case that was adopted by the military shortly after the end of World War II, a container which included a hole in the base so that the recipient could hang the decoration, still in the case, on the wall, with the clear lid making the decoration visible. The medal is complete with the ribbon bar and enamel lapel badge. There has been some typical discoloration of the plexiglass from age, but overall the set is in very good condition.
