Extra Large Luftwaffe Single Decal M40 Helmet
German helmets ranged in size from 60 centimeters up to 70 centimeters, and they were manufactured in increments of 2 centimeters. This helmet is a size 66, very nearly the largest size available (and indicated by the fact that the helmet was almost swimming on the display form when its photograph was taken for this listing). The exterior blue Luftwaffe paint is approximately 90% intact, while the Luftwaffe eagle decal is about 95% complete. The interior liner is present but it was well worn, and and five of the eight leather tongues are torn to some degree and there is no drawstring present. The chin strap is present on the helmet. In addition to the size of 68, the interior is stamped with the "ET" mark which indicates that the helmet was manufactured by the firm of Eisenhuttenwerke in Thale.
