Double Decal M40 Combat Police Helmet
click for an even bigger image

A double decal M40 combat police helmet that is in an untouched and uncleaned state, which was acquired with a another similarly untouched Combat Police helmet that is being offered on the site. Apparently one G.I. took both of the helmets as souvenirs at the same time and left them untouched since 1945. The exterior field gray combat paint appears to be approximately 90% intact. The police eagle decal is about 95% intact, while the party shield decal is about 90% complete. The exterior of the helmet has some spots but, as noted, it is uncleaned and looks just as it does when it was brought home by the American veteran who took the helmet as a souvenir. The interior liner is present and complete with the drawstring. The full chin strap is present, with the leather being stiff from age. The liner, chin strap, and the interior dome of the helmet are all dirty and dusty. The interior of the helmet is stamped "Q64", indicating a size 64 helmet manufactured by the Quist firm.
