Early SA Service Dagger by Gebruder Heller
An SA service dagger that is marked with the firm designation of Gebruder Heller. The blade is generally bright, with visible crossgrain, and with some minor spots and scratches. The blade has runner marks and a tiny, almost imperceptible edge nick. The burnishing is largely gone from the SA motto. The grip is a dark reddish brown. The grip eagle is of the nickel silver type and shows some wear, particularly on the edge of one wing, presumably at the spot where the owner's hand rubbed the eagle while gripping the dagger. There is a tight crack on the bottom front of the grip that runs up from the guard and is about 3/4 of an inch long. There is also a tight crack on the reverse that runs down from the upper guard and which is about 1/2 inch long. The enamel SA runes button is straight and has one or two small chips. The plating on the upper and lower guards is very good. The scabbard finish is of the anodized type and shows wear, with the finish being approximately 60% intact.
