WWI Seaman's Cap with Bullion USS Barry Cap Tally
click for an even bigger image

The blue wool seaman's cap of a U.S. Navy sailor of the First World War. The cap tally was embroidered in heavy gold bullion with the ship's name of the U.S.S. Barry, a destroyer which saw service in China, the Pacific and, during the war, in Europe. The name of the sailor to whom the cap belonged is stenciled in the interior: "W.E. Lyon". There are two or three holes in the wool cap which are quite tiny and barely perceptible, and overall the cap makes an excellent appearance.
