Hinomaru Flag with "Grass Writing" and Shrine Stamps
click for an even bigger image

Approximately 26 by 30 inches in size, with two reinforced corners with string ties. The flag is not only well signed but has multiple red shrine stamps upon it. The kanji on the flag are done in a style referred to as "Grass Writing", a stylized form of writing that was used for poetry. Most Japanese even today are unable to read this old and very stylized method of writing and it is very unusual to find it on a World War II flag. The flag has some light spots which are typical for these flags but it is in overall excellent condition.
