24th Division Combat Infantryman Ike Jacket
The Ike style uniform jacket of a combat infantryman of the 24th Division. The jacket has an interior Quartermaster tag which is dated November of 1944 and marked as a size 36 Regular. The jacket has the insignia of the 24th Division on the left shoulder and the insignia of the Sixth Army on the right shoulder. A sterling silver combat Infantry Badge is positioned above ribbons which include the Pacific Campaign Medal and the Philippine Liberation Medal with star. The Pacific medal has two small silver stars mounted on it. normally, this would indicate participation in 10 campaigns. However, the 24th Division participated in 3 campaigns and the Sixth Army saw no combat, so the silver stars were undoubtedly placed on the ribbon by mistake, with the intention to show participation in two campaigns, something that would normally have been indicated by 2 bronze stars. The lower left sleeve has overseas hash marks for 2 1/2 years of overseas duty. The jacket is missing one of the front buttons but it is otherwise quite clean and in very good condition.
