Baden Model 1894 Artillery Officer Kugelhelm
click for an even bigger image

A nice example of the kugelhelm worn by an officer of the Imperial Baden artillery. The leather helmet body is in overall very good condition, with the typical crazing on the front and rear visors. The large Baden wappen plate is affixed with two screws - missing its crown. The fish scale chin strap is only partially complete, with one half missing. The officer style national cockade is present but the Baden cockade is missing and the side post lug on the left side is also gone. The leather liner is present although the drawstring is missing and several of the leather tongues are torn at the holes. The initials "FB" can bee seen on the leather liner, which is also stamped as a size 55. There is an old small cloth label on the interior rear visor and, while there is a notation on the label, it is not clear. The helmet is impressive and certainly worthy of restoration.
