A "Montana Peak" campaign hat in stiff wool felt, manufactured by Stetson. The leather sweatband, which is loose in spots, is maker marked by Stetson as well as by a Baltimore retailer, and it bears the initials "FWZ". The wearer appears to have actually worn the hat with the back forward. The hat has an enamel grommet for placement of an insignia, but the hat actually has a screw back distinctive insignia fastened to the body of the cap on the opposite side. The insignia is that of the 189th Field Artillery Regiment which, during World War II, was a component of the 45th Infantry Division. A set of officer cap cords are on the hat, worn with the acorns beneath the distinctive insignia. There are some visible moth effects on the body of the hat but it is in overall good condition.
