1940 Dated Army Officer Visor Cap Size 7 1/8
click for an even bigger image

A nice example of the Army officer visor cap, this one having been created in a somewhat more coarse texture of olive drab wool that is found in the caps of the period immediately prior to the war. Beneath the interior leather sweatband is the stamp of the Quartermaster Corps with a June, 1940 contract date and a size of 7 1/8. There are, not surprisingly, a few extremely tiny moth holes, much smaller than the eraser on a pencil, and actually rather difficult to see. The hat presents with a fine appearance and is a particularly nice example with the leather back strap.
