A Japanese Army artillery officer's visor cap as worn in the field during the Russo-Japanese War. The cap has a black wool body with yellow piping and cap band for the artillery branch. The cap exhibits numerous moth holes of various sizes in the cap body, the cap band, and the piping, with the interior stiffening of the piping being exposed in spots. The red silk interior lining shows wear. The surface of the leather visor shows the effects of both heat and age.
