Merchant Marine Ribbon and Photograph Group

A World War II grouping of a Merchant seaman who became an officer of the Merchant Marine. The group includes his ribbon bar, with ribbons for the Mediterranean and Middle East War zone; the Atlantic War Zone; and the Pacific War Zone. there are also three loose ribbons that are duplicates of these awards. There is a boxed World War II Merchant Marine Victory Medal in the U.S. mint box. There is a sterling service pin by AE Company, and a sterling Merchant Marine "Wartime Service" pin. There is a group photograph of Merchant Mariners, about 4 3/4 by 6 1/2 inches; a small colored photograph, 3 by 4 1/2 inches, of the original owner; a 4 by 6 inch portrait photograph of the original owner in white uniform, wearing a two place ribbon bar and both of the service pins that are in this group; a candid photograph of the owner wearing the uniform of a Merchant Marine officer; and a portrait photograph of the owner in officer uniform, wearing the cap insignia of a Chief Steward, about 4 by 6 inches in size. Finally, the group includes a copy of a hardcover book published in 1943 titled "There Go The Ships: The Story of the American Merchant Marine At War", by Robert Carse.
