WWI 1917 U.S. Army Cavalry Trooper Raincoat

Waterproofed khaki cotton raincoat worn by U.S. Army cavalry troopers in the First World War. The coat has four large blackened metal hook and eye style snap closures. The uppermost closure is a single hook, but the lower three closures have double hooks at each position, allowing for adjustment of the coat's fit by placing the eye attachment through the hooks that resulted in the most comfortable wear. The coat has one lower exterior pocket with flap a cover on the right side. The rear of the coat has an opening that extends almost midway up the back to allow the coat to be draped on either side of the rider's horse. An interior label identifies the manufacturer, bears the contract date of June, 1917, and provides a stated size of "4". The interior of the coat has the original owner's initials marked inside. The coat has some soiling and period repairs, but it is a very scarce piece of uniform equipment in overall good used condition.
